For actors, the interest of playing in Sliders
is that they can play several different roles and confront them with the previous
ones. Quinn is the character who changes face the
most, obviously because he is the father of sliding and because he is responsible
for their accident. So, he often encounter his doubles and tries to find a
way to go back home.
It looks as if each Quinn from different dimensions, though different have
their science streak expanded : indeed, we always see Quinn with a somewhat
scientific passion, even if
each Quinn has his own nature.

SEASON 1
PILOT : UN COOLER QUINN !
A Quinn from an other dimension gets into "our"
Quinn's house, resolves the hard equation, (we can notice a little smiley
near it, sign of his fantasy character), insults the Professor in public,
kisses Wade and loses his job at Doppler's. He has the cheek to interfere
in our Quinn's life, in order to ease it for our Quinn, as in his own words.
He's convinced that Arturo and Hurley are nothing but jerks. This Quinn is
even married !! Unfortunately, he doesn't have enough time to explain to our
Q-Ball it's dangerous to open the vortex too
early...
FEVER : A PATIENT AND DOCTOR QUINN !
The Quinn of this
dimension is bright (as usual!) medicine student. But after a manipulation
accident, he's contaminated by the Q virus. He then becomes Patient Zero.
This Quinn, sapped by illness, is more taciturn and sadder. He has long hair
and a quite yellow face! He nevertheless does everything he can to save the
ill people in a secret place. His encounter with our Quinn and Wade gives
him hope and permits him to fight the disease.
EGGHEADS : A CHAMPION QUINN BUT A COWARD ONE
Quinn doesn't actually meet his double in this episode but
he finds out much elements to guess the real nature of his counterpart. He's
a "Mindgame" champion. In this game the players have to answer knowledge
questions while dribbling with a ball. He's then really famous but abandons
his squad in a cowardly way inventing this sliding story through parallel
worlds. No hope for our sliders to use his equipment to go home.
Quinn has to replace his double in the team !
LAST DAYS : A PALEONTOLOGIST QUINN
As Quinn says he has always been passionate by dinosaurs. He abandoned them later to concentrate on physics and parallel universes. It's not amazing to encounter a Quinn who studies paleontology, but we don't see him in the episode.Unfortunately, he's not a slider in spite of appearances: he concentrates on time travel. So, he hopes being able to get back to the first eras of dinosaurs, even to the fist dawn of the universe.
Two different visions often meet :
- Our Quinn, convinced of the existence of parallel worlds (hypothesis he proved to us!) and persuaded that time travel is impossible.
- Other Quinns that search to slide through time.
SEASON 2
INTO THE MYSTIC : A RETIRED QUINN
This Quinn is as
ingenious than inventive. He creates all a myth around his castle to dissuade
curious to come in. He has long hair, glasses and is much shyer and sadder
than our Quinn. Once again his encounter with Wade will make him happy! She
seems to bring happiness wherever she passes by... He also has controlled
the techniques of sliding. We can then believe that the sliders were effectively
back on Earth Prime ant the end of the episode...
SEASON 3
DOUBLE CROSS : A FEMININE QUINN
Exceptional case
in the series, Quinn's double in this dimension is no more than a woman: Logan
SaintClair!!! Their similitude is detected after Quinn's passing in the identity
checker; his thermal prints and Logan's are identical! Moreover, they often
say phrases in e perfectly synchronized way. We can wonder if the name of
the episode is linked or not to the fact that Quinn's double has two X chromosomes:
two crosses...
Logan is obviously a researcher in the sliding domain and has worked with Professor Arturo whom she quickly pushed into the vortex... As she declared, Quinn also has a dark side, but his is less evident than hers. Will we ever have the chance to see our Quinn's dark side in action?
She wants to organize the robbery of parallel dimensions to fit the lacks of her world, she doesn't hesitate to kill people when she needs to. Maybe we'll see her again in another dimension...
THE GUARDIAN : A YOUNGER QUINN !
In this episode Quinn meets with his twelve years old double (he explains that the wolds can develop in time at a different pace). He arrives the day of his father's funeral and when he's supposed to lose his dog Bopper. Fortunately, he's here to give the dog back to younger Quinn, whom escapes in his basement to work on some inventions of his.
Quinn relieves with pain the funeral of his father and hesitate to intervene in his alter ego's existence. He decides to prevent young Quinn from doing the same mistakes he did when he was his age: hit one of his enemies with a baseball bat, making him infirm for the rest of his life. He gets neared to little Quinn and have the part of the big brother (or father) he never had.
DEAD MAN SLIDING : A BAD THIEF QUINN
When our Quinn is condemned by mistake, the Quinn of this world will take advantage of the situation to get away. He is a little dishonest but it doesn't make him a murderer (the video tape accusing him was rigged). He's in, wears leather, a flowery shirt and sun glasses. He is touchy and self centered (nothing to do with our Quinn!!). It takes for Wade to go find him for him finally helping the other Quinn to escape.
THE LAST OF EDEN : A TORMENTED QUINN
Our Quinn here finds the Quinn
who solved the equation in the basement (see the pilot), but he really has
changed: he lives retired in a wood and rules a tribe of indigenes. He has
the same hairdo and make up as his congeners, but he seems really tormented.
After capturing Quinn, he unfortunately helps Rickman to fix his timer and
run away. However, he berates himself for giving the sliding equation to the
Kromaggs and wants our Quinn to kill him. If he gets through this test, he
will be stronger and ready to face the dangers that are waiting for him...
